Do Dual Screens Boost Productivity?

I asked myself this very question when the light bulb in my head went off. I really had this idea to get a nice LCD screen and hook it up to my laptop, and future iMac. I’ll have to buy some sort of switcher but whichever machine I’m working on I’ll be able to push screen real estate from either one. I also wanted to run a dual setup because I’ve heard it gives you a great boost in productivity. So needless to say I took the plunge.

I had some stipulations though. I didn’t want an ugly stinking monitor sitting on my desk, and it had to be at least 20 inches. This meant I had to find the old Cinema Displays from Apple because every other monitor was far too ugly. Luckily I found a decent priced 20″ Apple Cinema Display. I forked over a cheap $231.00 and was a new owner of a Cinema Display. Sadly I’m still waiting on an adapter so I can actually plug it in. So those productivity tests will have to wait. I did snap some pictures though and have uploaded them just for you to take a peak at. They aren’t anything special and I’ll be sure to keep tweaking my monitor setup and rearranging until I get it settled.

Let me pose you one question. Will the Cinema Display increase my productivity? I’m going from a 13″ to a 20″ & 13″/20″ CD & 20″ iMac.
